The 2023 International Day of Yoga, to be observed on Wednesday June 21st has more significance this year than ever. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead International Yoga Day celebrations from the United National center in New York.
Citizens of over 180 countries representing diplomats, academicians, entrepreneurs and others are expected to participate. The event will be telecast globally. It may be recalled that back in 2014, Indian Prime Minister Modi in his UN
address had suggested the date of June 21, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Following the initial proposal, the UN adopted the draft resolution, entitled "Day of Yoga", in 2014. Since 2015, the observance
has gained significant traction. creating awareness of yoga and thereby helping millions with their health and wellness.
Yoga originated in India thousands of years ago. Yoga’s popularity continues to grow in America with thousands of yoga centers around the country. Medical research studies prove that yoga can make a difference to one’s quality of life both physically
and mentally.
